Zimbabwe is at a critical phase in economic transformation - the latest efforts have seen the central bank auction securities in addition to patching gold reserve onto the currency in the shape of gold coins trading $1,800 each.
• This policy change moreso, aims at - stimulating economic mobility.
• Fears are that avenues of currency derivatives driven by profit oriented individuals will still look at exploiting the conundrum and nullify proceedings.
Let's hope they move as one and avoid any pitfalls that may see them devalue their currency by allowing a loss in leverage with this new scheme - as it would be as good as selling gold (in the Euro / U.S / Sterling market) for paper issue.

Afterthought 1;
All dependent on how many coins will be distributed.
I might be wrong - but this initial measure looks at stabilizing rates (best as possible) - all while auctioning securities of productive capacity.

Hopefully a step in the right direction.

______________
Afterthought 2;
From the press release - monetary policy is seemingly like any securities auction to fund government projects.
The branding (minting) on the other hand looks as though respective coin may see adoption at some capacity where policy attains optimal capacity and sustainable rates are attained - in a perfect market where trade barriers are nullified with optimal capacity of gravity economics in addition to sole internal economic activity as means of Gross Domestic Product attainment where imports are non significant.
How this policy will pan out in the long run is yet to be seen - as longterm strategy and economic trajectory is hingent on how the reserve bank monitors, regulates (enforces) and caps market activity.
Market performance on how these 10,000 coins allocated to respective projects, as means to fund and stimulate economic activity - will further indicate if the reserve bank aims at adoption (dependent on their gold reserves) or such is in efforts to only attain leverage in economic activity by stimulating strategic projects that will further stimulate market activity and see a utopian market and an economy truly liberated from post colonial barriers.
