Skill Harvest Complex

Self coined and one of the centerfolds of my first publications [Individual Development In The Corporate World - A Subjective Business Theory by Macmillan Amani Mungy (Authors'Edition)] the following is a short extract in definition of;


As simple as written, this is the process of attaining skills for the benefits of others (observers) be it intentionally or unintentionally.


A company is like a living organism - and by this the brain / nucleus would have to be the skills of its core resources i.e. employees.


In order for a company to be healthy it is vital that the companies employees (core resource) are not only competent skill-wise but so too learn from more experienced personnel and only when this is done can innovative means be applied if necessary in improvement of day to day functions of the organization; improving productivity and returns, so too ultimately the development of respective employees (Individuals) via effectiveness, professionalism, welfare, emergence of further skill capacity and development, and so on.


In a nutshell, skill harvesting would be the process of attaining skills, be it from experienced employees, and or new employees; where less experienced employees may not be up to par in correlation to “know-how” with their older peers but due to a different / fresh perspective and outlook, with a more frequent encounter with the company's customer and day to day actives (front line duties) one will be in a situations where innovative ways of conducting functions are applied if possible, and if it’s best practice and of a positive impact to the business organization. 


Ultimately the organization will improve via adoption of skills and methods of yield (skill harvesting).


With millennials in today’s workforce, the 4th industrial revolution has never been in smarter hands. The age of information has made it easier / simpler than ever to obtain knowledge at the tap of a button. Individuals of this generation will always find themselves at an advantage, where technological infrastructures in place are utilized with purpose. With such an advantage, one must make sure they manoeuvre in a way that will facilitate growth in respective corporate environment deployed.


Innovative individuals in today’s generation entering the workforce must make sure they are aligned with peers and overall company vision where if one is not careful in how they conduct and coordinate themselves in respective environment, they may find that their skills are harvested and utilized by peers that know exactly when and where to apply specific respective skills for personal gain and career development.
